Fix what you have before you replace it
Most signs don't fail all at once, and the decline is easy to miss from inside. A few letters go dark, a face cracks after a storm, or years of sun turn a red logo pink. Customers driving past usually notice it before you do, and a sign that looks neglected makes the whole business look that way.
A lot of that can be fixed without starting over. The cabinet, the structure and the wiring path are often in good shape, so new LEDs, a fresh face or a coat of paint gets you most of the way to a new sign. We look at what you have and tell you plainly whether a repair makes sense or a replacement will serve you better.
Repairs and upgrades we do
LED replacement
Dead modules and failed power supplies swapped out, so every letter lights at the same brightness again.
LED retrofits
Old fluorescent tubes and glass neon replaced with LEDs inside the existing cabinet or letters. LEDs use less power and need less upkeep.
New faces and letters
Cracked or sun-faded cabinet faces replaced with new ones, and damaged channel letters rebuilt or remade to match the rest.
Cabinet repainting
Faded and chalky cabinets, poles and raceways repainted so the sign looks cared for.
Tenant panel swaps
New panels for shopping center and office directory signs when a tenant moves in or out.
Monument refurbishing
Damaged parts replaced, faded panels refinished and old lighting upgraded on monument signs.

Repair, reface or replace
The right call depends on what is actually worn out.
- Repair
- Best when the problem is a part: a few dead LEDs, a bad power supply, a cracked face or a loose letter.
- Reface
- Best when the cabinet and structure are sound but the graphics are faded or your business has a new name or logo.
- Retrofit
- Best when an older fluorescent or neon sign still looks right but costs too much to run and keep lit.
- Replace
- Best when the structure is rusted through, the sign no longer fits your brand, or repairs would cost close to a new sign.
Sign repair questions
Why are some of my sign letters out?
Usually a failed LED module, a bad power supply or a loose connection. When several letters go out at once, the power supply is a common cause, since one supply often runs more than one letter.
Can you convert my old fluorescent or neon sign to LED?
Yes. In most cases we keep the existing cabinet or letters and replace the lighting inside with LEDs. The sign keeps its look and uses less power.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a sign?
If the cabinet and structure are in good shape, repairing or refacing usually costs less than a new sign. If the frame is rusted or the sign is badly outdated, replacing it can be the better use of your money. We will tell you which way we would go and why.
Do I need a permit to repair or reface a sign?
Ordinary repairs usually don't need one. Changes are different. Raleigh's rules allow normal maintenance and broken part replacement on an older sign that no longer meets current code, but altering, replacing or converting that sign means the whole sign has to meet today's standards. We check before ordering anything.
Can you repair a sign another company built?
Send us photos and a description, and we'll tell you whether it's a repair we can take on.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in North Raleigh and work across the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Garner, Morrisville and Fuquay-Varina.
