Two materials, a lot of options
Most indoor signs are made from one of two plastics. Acrylic looks like glass and gives you a polished finish. PVC is lighter, costs less and handles weather. Between them they cover lobby logos, door signs, menu boards, wayfinding and outdoor panels.
We cut both on a CNC router, so a sign can be any shape: letters, your logo, or a panel with printed graphics. Then we mount it on drywall, brick, glass or metal, level and secure.
These materials also make it easy to keep signs consistent across a building. Once your logo is set up for cutting, the same file can produce a large lobby sign, smaller door signs and a matching directory, all in the same colors and finish. Adding another sign later is simply a matter of cutting one more.
What we make with acrylic and PVC

Dimensional letters
Letters and logos cut out and mounted to the wall, so they cast a little shadow and read as solid objects.

Standoff panels
An acrylic panel held off the wall on metal standoffs. It seems to float, which suits reception areas.

Printed panels
Full-color graphics on or behind acrylic for history walls, donor walls, menus and directories.

PVC signs
Light, waterproof boards for outdoor panels, pool and amenity signs, and temporary signs.

Cut-to-shape signs
Signs cut to the outline of your logo or lettering instead of a plain rectangle.
Engraved signs
Text routed into the material for nameplates, room signs and directories. Tough and easy to wipe clean.
Acrylic or PVC?
- Choose acrylic when
- the sign is in a lobby, office or shop and needs to look polished. It comes clear, frosted or in solid colors, gloss or matte, and it can be lit.
- Choose PVC when
- the sign goes outside, needs to be light, or the budget is tight. It is waterproof, easy to cut into shapes and a good base for printed vinyl.
- Or use both
- Many signs pair acrylic letters with a PVC backer: the premium look where it shows, savings where it does not.
- Not sure?
- Tell us where the sign is going and we will recommend the material and thickness.

Acrylic and PVC sign questions
How much do acrylic and PVC signs cost?
It depends on size, thickness and finish. A simple PVC sign can start at a few hundred dollars, and a large set of acrylic letters on standoffs costs more. You get a free written quote first.
Can acrylic signs go outside?
Yes. We use sign-grade cast acrylic made to resist yellowing in the sun, and PVC is waterproof, so both work outdoors.
How thick should my sign be?
Acrylic usually runs 1/8 inch to 1 inch thick and PVC 1/8 to 3/4 inch. Thicker looks more dimensional; thinner works for flat panels. We will recommend a thickness for your spot.
Can you cut custom shapes and match colors?
Yes. We can cut almost any shape, and acrylic comes in many colors or can be printed in full color to match your brand.
How long does it take?
Most signs take 1 to 3 weeks from proof approval. Small jobs like nameplates can be done in a few days.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in North Raleigh and work across the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Garner, Morrisville and Fuquay-Varina.
