The sign at the end of the driveway
A monument sign sits low, right where drivers are already looking, and it stays put for years. It tells people they've found the right place before they reach the door, and the way it's built says something about what's inside.
We make them for offices, medical practices, churches, schools, neighborhoods and shopping centers. One team handles the site visit, the design, the city permit, the build and the installation, foundations and wiring included.
Size and setback rules shape a monument sign before the design does. Raleigh limits how tall a ground sign can be and how close it can sit to the road, and many neighborhoods and shopping centers add rules of their own. We check all of that on the first visit, so the design you approve is one the city will actually permit.
Kinds of monument signs we build

Stone and brick monuments
A solid base of stone, brick veneer or stucco with a sign panel or carved letters. The classic choice for offices, medical buildings and churches.

LED monument signs
A traditional monument with an electronic message board built in, so you can change the message without changing the sign.

Architectural and entrance signs
Plaques and letters set into stone walls and pillars, made to look like part of the property.

Post and panel signs
A panel between two posts. Costs less than a full monument and still puts your name at street level.

From site visit to installed sign
Monument signs take more planning than most: setbacks, sight lines, footings and, for lit signs, power. We handle all of it.
Site visit
We come out, measure, check sight lines and look up the sign rules for your property, city and HOA.
Design
You get a drawing of the sign on your building or site, with materials, colors and lighting worked out.
Permits
We prepare the site plans and drawings and handle the permit with the City of Raleigh or your town.
Build
The sign is made from commercial-grade materials chosen for North Carolina weather.
Install
Our crew sets foundations, runs electrical for lit signs and leaves the site clean.
Materials
We pick materials for how long they last, how they look next to your building, and your budget.
- Stone and brick veneer
- The classic look, and it lasts as long as the building.
- HDU (high density urethane)
- Carved letters and raised details that never rot.
- Aluminum
- Cabinet faces, panels and the frame inside.
- Stucco and EIFS
- Smooth, modern finishes in any color.
- Acrylic and polycarbonate
- Faces for signs lit from inside.
- LED modules
- Efficient lighting, inside the sign or aimed at it.
Monument sign questions
How much does a monument sign cost?
It depends on size, materials and whether it lights up. A simple post and panel sign can start around $1,500. A custom lit monument with stone or brick usually runs $5,000 to $25,000 or more. We give you a free, detailed quote after a site visit.
Do I need a permit for a monument sign in Raleigh?
Yes. Raleigh requires a permit for most permanent ground signs, with rules on height, setback, size and lighting. We take care of the permit as part of the job.
How long does a monument sign take?
Most take 4 to 8 weeks from the first visit to installation. Permit review is the part that varies most by town, and we start building as soon as it is approved.
Can you add lighting to a monument sign?
Yes. We can light it from inside with a backlit face, from outside with ground spotlights or gooseneck lights, or add an LED message board.
Do you repair or update existing monument signs?
Yes. We fix damaged parts, refinish faded signs, swap tenant panels on shopping center signs and upgrade old lighting to LED.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in North Raleigh and work across the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Garner, Morrisville and Fuquay-Varina.
